Peace in Following Christ

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.Philippians 4:6-7

Anyone besides me needs this reminder from scripture today?

I really love the peace of God that transcends all understanding, the peace you get from following in His footsteps.

Are you facing a decision today? Wondering what the will of God is for you? Remember scripture tells us that nothing is impossible with God. If you are trying to decide what God wants today, then pray and ask him first. If you do not have peace about your decision, it's likely not part of the plans He has for you.

When in doubt which way to go always stop, pray and ask God to show you.  Ask yourself is this the way? As believers on the narrow road, it's dangerous to walk along unaware.

Here's a practical way to discern.  Imagine yourself standing at a cross-road, turning to the right or left, maybe the decision is to stand still or go straight. See yourself in each scenario, which way leads to peace, which way doesn't? The minute you decide and if it's Gods way the peace of God comes over you. No peace? Then perhaps its time to get back in the prayer closet and ask God again.

There is a subtle difference between fear of the unknown and constant anxiety and worry about a decision. The Bible tells us in this scripture not to be anxious about anything. Afer a decision is made you may still experience the uncertainty of what's around the corner. When it's part of God's plans you will have a peace that makes no sense as scripture says, this is because you know that God is right there in this decision, holding your hand.  So it's okay if you feel apprehensive but anxiety and constant worry could be a sign you are on the wrong track and you may need to seek God again for clarity. This is the subtle art of learning to hear God's voice or discerning the way you should go. As we practice we get better with each step of the way.

Don't forget that God's Word is a lamp unto our feet as well. When in doubt seek God's face, pray, open the Bible it will light the way to the peace you seek.

Many blessings on the narrow road my friends! Laura Sterling - www.narrowgatetraveller.com

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you that you never leave us alone and that you are in every decision we are required to make. Thank you that your peace is a signpost for us along the road of life. Help us oh Lord to follow your will and your way for our lives.  Thank you for the peace that passes all understanding, thank you for guarding our hearts today. In Jesus name Amen!
